With stormy conditions and warm water temperatures, fishing should be active around weather fronts. Here’s what anglers can expect:

  1. Largemouth Bass: Bass should be holding in 12-20 feet of water near main lake points and boat docks. Carolina-rigged lizards and deep-diving crankbaits in shad patterns should be effective. Look for active fish during breaks in the storms.
  2. Striped Bass: Striper action should be good, particularly around the Eaton Ferry Bridge and steel bridge areas. White bucktails and live shad are recommended during overcast periods.
  3. Crappie: Crappie fishing remains consistent around brush piles in 12-18 feet of water. Live minnows and tiny jigs should produce good results near bridge pilings and boat docks.
  4. White Perch: Look for white perch schooling around creek mouths. Small jigs and live minnows should be effective.
  5. Catfish: Catfishing should be excellent during stormy conditions. Try cut bait, live shad, or chicken livers in deeper channels.

Monitor weather conditions closely and have an evacuation plan for thunderstorms.

Best fishing will likely occur before and after storm systems move through. Good luck and tight lines!
