Bundle up, Lake Gaston! We’re starting MLK Day with a chilly morning at 25°F, climbing to a sunny but brisk 35°F this afternoon. If you’re heading out on the water or planning outdoor activities, be prepared for the cold snap continuing into evening, when temperatures will dip to 16°F under clear skies.

Looking ahead to next weekend, bourbon enthusiasts who secured tickets are in for a treat at Lake Gaston Coffee Company’s Weldon Mills Bourbon Tasting (January 25th). While this event is already sold out, it’s a great reminder to stay connected for future event announcements!

Mark your calendars for an informative start to February. The Lake Gaston Association will host their monthly membership meeting on Wednesday, February 5th at 9:30 AM at Lake Gaston Baptist Church (across from the Chamber and Subway). This meeting features two special guests from Dominion Energy: new Reservoir Project Manager R. Josh Simpson and fisheries biologist Fritz Hoogakker, who will discuss fish passage and American Eel restoration efforts at Lake Gaston. Coffee and refreshments will be provided, and the meeting is open to everyone. Can’t make it? The session will be recorded and shared on the LGA’s YouTube channel.
