Officials say proposed permits imperil local waters

The Southern Environment Law Center issued a statement this week warning those living along the Dan and Roanoke River, including residents of Lake Gaston, that proposed permits from Duke Energy involving leaky, unlined coal ash sites would allow the company to discharge unlimited amounts of “several dangerous coal ash pollutants into North Carolina’s rivers and lakes.”
