The recent drowning of a fisherman participating in a bass tournament on Lake Gaston had many people looking at lake conditions the day of his accident and wondering if there were any small craft advisories issued that day.
The body of the Lake Gaston boater who'd been missing since Sunday, April 3rd, Brian Harold, was recovered from Lake Gaston Wednesday before 10 am. Ronald Storey, the Director of Emergency Services in Northampton County says, "As search boats were being launched a call came in from a citizen reporting an unusual object inside the buoys of the search area. A search boat was sent to the area and the object was discovered to be the body of Mr Harold."
There was a somber mood on Lake Gaston among dozens of rescuers today as they entered day three of a search for a missing Virginia fisherman. Sunday’s initial rescue effort for Brian Harold of McGaheysville, Va., morphed into a recovery mission Monday, but officials are holding out hope no matter how dim it may be.
