Tracking Hurricane Irma

Irma is an extremely dangerous hurricane and will continue to bring life-threatening wind, storm surge, and rainfall hazards in the Caribbean.

Irma is likely to make landfall in Florida as a dangerous major hurricane, and will bring life-threatening wind impacts to much of the state regardless of the exact track of the center.

Irma will likely bring periods of heavy rain to much of Georgia, South Carolina, and western North Carolina early next week, including some mountainous areas which are more prone to flash flooding.

In the Lake Gaston/Kerr Lake area, the National Weather Service predicts rain showers and scattered thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday. The strongest winds should be well west of the Kerr Lake/Lake Gaston area if the storm continues on its predicted track. On Monday there still could be gusts of 30 to 40 mph in the western parts of Kerr Lake and somewhat less at the eastern end of Lake Gaston.
